VANDAL presents ‘Infranatura’ by Raul O. Lejarazu Machin
Infranatura is a photographic exhibition exploring the beauty and fragility of Australian flora within an increasingly modern and rapidly changing environment.
Presented from 10–30 November, the series sees Raúl transform one of his cameras into an infrared light sensor, capturing elements of the natural world invisible to the human eye, including indicators of plant health. Shot in extreme conditions, at times exceeding 42°C, the resulting images render flora as ghostlike forms, subtly revealing the impact of environmental stress.
At its core, Infranatura is a reflection on perception, science, and our relationship to the land. As Raúl describes, “Infranatura is a tribute to nature, science, and the land we inhabit. This project is about seeing the familiar in a new light and inviting viewers to reflect on our connection to the natural world.”
The exhibition was presented as part of the Head On Photo Festival 2025 Open Program, recognised for its strong artistic vision within a curated selection of independent and artist-run shows. It was also supported by the Instituto Cervantes.
