VANDAL partnered with Edith Cowan University to shape a motion identity system for ECU City, the university’s landmark new $853 million campus in the heart of Perth.
The collaboration brought VANDAL and ECU together across strategy, co-design and production, with a shared focus on how the university’s brand could live within a major new campus environment. Rather than treating motion as an add-on, the team developed a system that could support the day-to-day life of the campus while giving ECU a distinctive presence across its architectural media.
At the centre of the work is Forum, a four-storey LED media platform embedded within the public heart of ECU City. VANDAL worked closely with the ECU team to define how this platform could be used for communication, storytelling and atmosphere at architectural scale.
The project also included a suite of motion artwork idents that reinterpret ECU’s iconic U mark through different creative lenses, each connected to the university’s positioning, Creative Thinkers Made Here.
The result is a flexible motion language shaped through close collaboration — built for ECU City today, and designed to evolve with the university over time.
